Imagine 30 triathletes going head-to-head in lawn bowls—hectic? Absolutely. Competitive? You bet. Fun? Without a doubt! But let's just say, most of us should probably stick to triathlons, haha. A big shoutout to Geoff Bensley for organising the teams, thanks to the Byron Bowling Club for putting roast beef dinners for the whole tri club and an even bigger thanks to our sponsor, Simply Clean for providing the end of season awards!
We had a blast celebrating our 23/24 season success with a sunny Sunday afternoon of barefoot bowls. After the game, Huw handed out some well-deserved awards and recognition. Congratulations again to the winners of the 2023/2024 Breakers Club Awards, presented at the Byron Bowlo after a competitive round of lawn bowls. The winners were:
The F (Fastest) Award: Jaime
The FF (Fastest Female) Award: Cara
Best Rookie: Thalita
Best in NSW: Deb
Most Improved: Gracie
Long Course Gun Award: Dave
Most Improved Swimmer: Joana
The Whoopsie Award: Huw
Club Photographer Award: Charlie
Bravest Award: Annie
Unfortunately, some of our winners couldn't attend:
Most Dedicated Volunteer: John Rueth, for riding 550km to the NSW Club Champs in Forster just to volunteer. John was fittingly awarded a tube of Aussie Butt Cream.
Most Inspiring Award: Nerida & Pete, for their unwavering dedication to the sport and competition. They were presented with a bottle of 2018 Greenock Cabernet Sauvignon.
MEMBER OF THE YEAR
Each member plays a vital role in our club, whether by supporting sessions, races, or social events. However, each year, I like to recognise the individual who goes above and beyond in their contributions. This person not only cares deeply about the club's success but also helps rally the troops, assists behind the scenes, and steps in to attend meetings if I'm unavailable. This year, I'm pleased to present this award to Huw Jones for his outstanding dedication and commitment.
